State Horticultural Show Gronau-Losser

With the 12th State Horticultural Show opened in Gronau in the Münsterland region, North Rhine-Westphalia dared to cross the border for the first time. Under the motto "Naturally Unlimited Diversity", the LAGA Gronau-Losser exhibition grounds stretched as far as the Netherlands in 2003, thus testifying to exemplary European neighborhood cooperation. In a short planning and construction phase, one of the most varied and diverse exhibitions in the history of garden shows with an ecological and social orientation was created. The 12th State Garden Show, which the state supported with around ten million euros, was not only a magnet for hundreds of thousands of guests, but above all a motor for structural urban development. The canals, ponds, playgrounds, flower beds and parks gave the area of the former textile industrial wasteland Gronau a new face. On the Dutch side, monuments and exhibits are lined up around Losser as "The Twelve Pearls" and the river Dinkel forms the link between the two cities and the exhibition areas. A total of more than 150,000 plants were planted for the LAGA, 40 theme gardens were laid out, a 250-meter-long arched bridge was built between Dinkelaue and Gronau's city center, and several playgrounds were built.
